Experiment and numerical modelling of a demountable steel connection system for reuse

Currently, steel reuse is only a marginal practice. To facilitate deconstruction and efficient of components, an innovative connection system was proposed. This adopts ‘Block Shear Connector (BSC)’ that allows beam length to be standardised suitable for wide range different sizes the supporting members within same planning grid. paper presents experimental numerical studies beam-to-beam using BSCs. The BSC used made from standard universal HE / UC section bolted beams by partial depth end plates. results provided shear resistance, moment-rotation, failure behaviour, demountability reusability components.
